Would YOU deny Him?

Eeep! Oh my gosh, guys. I just saw the best Christian movie. Yesterday my church youth group all went to see the movie, God's Not Dead. It was sooooo good! Like, you need to go see it. You need to!

But really, that movie makes you think. Would you write down "God is dead" if you were in Josh's situation? I think a lot of Christians would, because it would be so tempting to just write it down even if you are a Christian and believe in God. You just want to pass the class, right?  So many Christians out there are just lukewarm and weak, and God isn't really that important to them - more just like a magic potion that keeps you from the flames of hell. I mean, if I was in Josh's situation, would I have written "God is dead"? My first reaction is "NO!!!!!!!!"  I just wouldn't be able to do it. I would feel horrible doing it, and feel like a huge coward.

But here's something a friend said: "We all say now that we would never do that. We would never deny Him. And of course, that may very well be true. I mean, we never want to deny Jesus. But remember Peter? Jesus told him he would deny Him three times. And Peter was like, 'Never! I would never deny You!' But......  he did."

And that's just awful. I never ever want to deny Jesus. Ever. That's really scary to me. Jesus says if we deny Him, He will deny us.

Another interesting point my friend made was that denying Jesus is not just a, "Oh, God's dead." or something like that where you actually say that and verbalize it. No Christian would ever actually say anything like that. Denying Jesus can be an action. What you do determines what you really believe. Are your actions glorifying Him and bringing honor to His name? Or is there no proof in your life that Jesus is your Lord? If you aren't living for Him, what are you saying? Isn't that the same as saying you can get away with it? And if you think you can get away with it, is it because you think God isn't actually real? But you can't get away with sin. You can't. Even if you don't see the consequences of sin now, it doesn't mean that you will go unpunished. You can never escape the consequences of sin, even if it takes a lifetime for it to catch up with you.

Anyways, that's my blib blab speech for the day.

But whosoever denies Me before men, him will
I also deny before My Father which
is in heaven.
