It's a New Year

It's a new year. It's a new beginning. It's so fresh and new.

 2014.

                                     Just look at it.

Doesn't it just speak crisp? New?

Unknown?

It's like stepping out into unfamiliar ground. Reaching out to new beginnings. I can't wait to see what 2014 has in store.

Most of the time, when we reach a new year, looking back at the old year, it's like shaking off your pants that were dragging around your heels. And then reaching up and pulling something new over you head. Then, as the new year wears on, the garment starts to sag. About half-way through the year, it's drooped and rested around your middle. Nearing the end of the year, it slides down your legs. And eventually, you kick it off from around your ankles, and move on.

But this year it feels different. 2013 isn't sparkly and new anymore, but.... it hasn't really lost it's charm to me, either. Maybe I favor the year because 13 is my favorite number. But then, maybe I favor it because it was such a fun year for me.

Okay, okay; I'll stop talking now. I'm not really making any sense. But I am in my own little mind.

The major things that happened in our family during 2013 :

  1. We had two graduations in our family. My two older brothers; one from collage, one from high school.
  2. Gracie turned one years old in June.
  1. We had the first wedding in our family in September.
The less major things that happened :
  1. My older sister turned 21 in March.
  2. I had my two best friends turn 18 and 16 in February and March.
  3. I turned 16 in June.
  4. My brother turned 18 in November.
  5. And lots of living in between!
That's all the note-worthy things I can come up with off the top of my head. I'm sure there's more?

But anyways, the year was really good for me. I loved 2013.

I just hope. That 2014. Is just as good.
I can't wait to see what is hiding behind the corner.
